DaveM Posted January 4, 2006 Report Posted January 4, 2006 round town 16long run 26-30managed 33 on a long run lightly loaded once. (but only for a couple of miles)had a roof box on last week that knocked about 8mpg off !! Quote
Guest galaxysam Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 Got a 96 on P and the best have got is 25mpg over about 300 miles sticking to about 60 mph using the cruise, am thinking that sounds a bit high compared to others, is more like 17/18 around town. Quote
Guest galaxysam Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 Dont know if anyone else has noticed this as well, but have working it out by filling the tank and checking mileage etc and have found that gives a higher reading than the trip computer, normally about 3-4 miles to the gallon higher. DaveM Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 further to my earlier post...... mines a manual, so can expect a bit more Quote
Dally Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 Using the technique of 'per tankful' at about 53 pounds, I get the following on my V6 auto: -pottering about around town - 200 miles-long run steady 70mph on cruise - 270 - 290 miles Quote
sasquartch Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 I just had the petrol low warning light come on and noticed it had been 532 miles since I last filled up. That cost about Quote

Guest dbpreston Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 I get a long term average of about 27.5 in summer, and 26 in winter from trip computer.Checked the trip computer against full tanks every now and again, and it's pretty accurate. Long motorway drive 28-30mpg, but only about 20 round London - but not done that for a while. Did a trip to Spain couple of years ago - 3500 miles and averaged 28.5 despite 130etc on the Euro motorways. It is manual though. Best I've ever had was about 33mpg over 500 miles one English holiday. I admit I was trying had after the first 400 miles though - that's the thing about trip computers. Before the Gal a I had a similar VW - Sharan VR6, and that did slightly less, about 27 average. Both of these are quite a bit better than book figures and that's on 95 octane. As another comparison I once had an Austin Maxi - 0-60 about 18 seconds, and that never ever did better than 29mpg. Things have come on then ... Have fun - David Quote
seatkid Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 I get a long term average of about 27.5 in summer, and 26 in winter from trip computer. I get about 52mpg from my petrol Fabia, its only got 3 cylinders so half as much for a VR6 sounds about right.... Quote
Guest tonycoates Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 I'm sure that we have been down the mpg road for the V6 earlier in the year. And of course now the agricultural engined Galaxy owners will be sitting smug reading our returns. But Look what they are missing. Wind down the window and listen to that engine on full acceleration, 5 mpg but worth every penny, better than any in car stereo system. Look in the mirror at the faces of those 2.0 Zaffira owners as you leave them for dust at the lights. Look in the mirror at the faces of those 205s clios and the like owners with big exhaust and low profiles. Look out of your side window at the face of the M5 owner as he stuggles to pull in front. Look in the mirror at the faces of those delivery drivers who would normally score a win against TDI Galaxys, and missed the descrete V6 badge. You dont see the motorway police driving TDI Galaxys! V6 fuel consumption is not an issue, it is a feature. Tony Quote
